The Police Command in Enugu State has confirmed the release of Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu, the Vice-Rector, Queen of Apostles Spiritual Year Seminary, Imezi-Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area.   Madu was abducted on Monday, October 28th at about 5:30 p.m. at the gate of the seminary by unknown persons.   The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the priest’s release in Enugu saying: “ Yes, he has been released unhurt. However, we are still trailing his abductors. We are also working on something concerning tracking down the perpetrators of this dastardly act.’’   Also, the Catholic Diocese of Enugu on its official Facebook page confirmed the release of the priest, stating that: “Father Madu, the kidnapped priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu has been released.” It added that Madu “was released this (Wednesday) afternoon from the kidnapper’s den’’.

  A 54-year-old woman, Sulaimon Kudirat Aduni and 45-year-old Adindu Obinna Hycinth have been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) on charges of drug trafficking.  Kudirat who was on her way to London when she was nabbed has excreted 28 out of the 60 wraps of cocaine she swallowed, while Adindu has excreted 93 wraps.  The widow disclosed that she joined the drug trafficking gang after facing a hard time in her clothing business. She further revealed that she was contacted by one of her friends Bunmi who stays in London. Bunmi reportedly sent over one Mukaila to help her swallow the drugs.  The NDLEA Airport Commander MMIA, Garba Ahmadu said Aduni was apprehended after she developed complications and vomited two wraps resulting from irritation and stomach discomfort.  Ahmadu said: “She was arrested on October 26, 2019, during outward c...

  54 containers laden filled with contrabands including expired rice and banned drugs, has been seized by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Tin Can Island Command.  The Comptroller-General Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali, who briefed reporters at the Customs Examination Ground of the Tin Can Island Port said the seized items include 33 containers of expired rice, one container of rice concealed with spare parts, 11 containers of unregistered pharmaceutical products, two containers of used tyres, one container of used clothing and four containers of refined vegetable oil in retail packs. Value of the seizure has been placed at N2.713 billion and it was reportedly bagged in 50kg sacks which had the labels of Nigerian companies. Fast-rising Nigerian artiste Zinoleesky who was recently linked to a deal with AMW/DMW has reportedly turned down the contract offer. According to reliable source who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity, Lil Froshand Zinoleesky were meant to sign the deal together but the Zinoleesky refused. Meanwhile, Davido had already announced both artistes as his next signees but only Lil Frosh was seen in picture putting pen on paper. Deji Adeyanju, leader of civil society organisation, Concerned Nigerians, has asked the United States Embassy in Nigeria to impose visa ban on Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, over the illegal arrest and detention of Nigerian journalists, Agba Jalingo and Joseph Odok. In a letter addressed to the embassy and signed by Adeyanju, the group said it believes that the illegal arrest and detention of Jalingo and Odok shouldn’t happen in a democracy.   A mother-of-three has died following breast enlargement and tummy tuck procedures on the advice of staff who told her it would be cheaper to have both done at the same time.   Late Louise Harvey, 36, died from blood clots following the surgeries carried out by Transform plastic surgery clinic at Riverside hospital in London. The beautician was not given a second dose of blood thinners despite medical notes indicating she had a significant family history of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a coroner said. Her mother Linda Harvey, 53, whose own mother died of blood clotting, said that her daughter was sent home without the necessary medication. It was reported that a second dose of anti-coagulant drugs to help thin the blood was 'crossed out' on her notes indicating she had been given the dosage.
