Zimbabwe Live Updates: Robert Mugabe Detained As Military Take Over Harare But Deny Coup

 Zimbabwe’s military says it has seized power to target “criminals” around President Robert Mugabe, who it said is “safe and sound” in custody with his wife.
The army said it was securing government offices and patrolling the capital’s streets, after a night of unrest which included a military takeover of the state broadcaster.
The action triggered speculation of a coup, but the military’s supporters praised it as a “bloodless correction”.

Deji Adeyanju, leader of civil society organisation, Concerned Nigerians, has asked the United States Embassy in Nigeria to impose visa ban on Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, over the illegal arrest and detention of Nigerian journalists, Agba Jalingo and Joseph Odok. In a letter addressed to the embassy and signed by Adeyanju, the group said it believes that the illegal arrest and detention of Jalingo and Odok shouldn’t happen in a democracy. Tension in police over controversial posting policy

Aggrieved police officers allege that there is a new policy that that promotes outright witch-hunting of officers and open favouritism from a particular section of the country – The controversial posting policy is said to be against the Police Act and rules – Officers have complained that the reversal of postings is counter-productive with regards to fighting the myriad of security challenges confronting the country The decision by the Buhari administration to allegedly revert over 70 per cent of the postings of officers carried out by the last administration of the in defiance to the Police Act and rules is generating tension in the Nigeria Police Force.
